VISIT THIS HISTORIC CITY AND GLOBAL CENTER FOR EDUCATION

YWAM Boston — Somerville, Massachusetts

Welcome others home.

Boston is home to the nations. Our neighborhood of Winter Hill hosts many from Brazil, Haiti, and El Salvador, among other nations. In our early years of pioneering YWAM Boston, a survey of our neighbors proved their greatest need was English class. Our leaders prayed for this need, and in 2019, we pioneered our first neighborhood focused English class. Since then we have added classes and grown in reach both online and local. We run three semesters of classes: January, April, and September quarters. Our average class has 4-6 students, which allows our group to grow into a family where care, fun, and learning are cultivated.

Boston is a world center for learning. The nations send their young adults here to college to grow in education, so they will return to change their home nations. Boston holds a great opportunity and responsibility to shape the future of nations and history.

Be part of a family.

At YWAM Boston, we are a community of followers of Jesus who love to create, move, teach and inspire others to live sold out lives for the Kingdom of God. This includes our English Department, where we offer a felt need of English training. We set the table, and then invite these neighbors and friends to join us. We grow in language together, practice, and learn, but we also are able to share life and make friends. It's through these friendships that we see students encounter the God we serve and Love.

We pray for lives to change because they came to the table.

“A great place to improve my teaching and make friends.”

A TEACHER’S STORY

I received my training with Citizens TESOL and enjoyed my practicum as a co-teacher with YWAM Boston's ESL online program! It has been wonderful to have students from multiple countries gather as students in a virtual classroom and learn English together!

From laughing about funny stories from daily life, to discussions about serious feelings and situations such as the pandemic, the students have been outspoken in a comfortable environment where they share what's important to them. And the teachers have been able to meet the students’ needs by evaluating their level of English and providing instruction, encouragement, and practice to enable students to continue moving forward on their language learning journey.

YWAM Boston has been a great place to get to know students, improve my teaching through practice and observation, and make friends.
